Volkswagen is proving that you do not have to buy a hybrid to drive a green car. That's the idea behind the German automobile manufacturer alternative fueled Jetta TDI 2009. Our car was equipped with a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel power plant makes 140 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque and still gets and EPA estimated 40 mpg on the highway when the car connected to the DSG gearbox.
Starting out at just over $ 22,000 the Volkswagen Jetta TDI is an affordable alternative to other environmentally friendly vehicles. Our Reflex Silver Metallic medium size four-door sedan rode on a series of elegant 16-inch alloy wheels and apart from the TDI badge on the trunk, it looked just like any other Jetta VW Jetta in the family.
The interior was filled with goodies such as air conditioning Climatic, V-Tex leatherette seating comfort and a 6 disc CD changer with auxiliary input for your MP3 needs. One of the better features that come with our TDI, Jetta, or any novel for that matter, is 24 hour roadside service for the first 3 years or 36,000 miles of ownership. Not to mention that thanks to the new common rail fuel delivery system, the Jetta TDI diesel, the only one in the U.S.
The stringent European Tier II Bin 5 meets emissions standards without the help of additional additive the equivalent of being a LEV II rating from the California Air Resources Board. Coming in at $ 25,070 the Volkswagen Jetty TDI is a pretty good price to pay for such a well finished, economical and fun to drive package.
Volkswagen has not decided fueled their alternative Jetty with major labels or gaudy emblems instead of our TDI seems to stay it’s the same as with any other platform MKV Volkswagen with room for five and a tribe, there is no difference between our Reflex Silver Metallic Jetty TDI and the other compact four-door sedan from VW. In addition to the attractive 16-inch wheels, is the only thing that gives away this green car, the TDI badge on the trunk? We particularly like the blue reference to the German automaker's future with clean cars like the Blue Sport Roadster.
The headlights are round and friendly, the car is proportional to size, the large chrome in the grill is nice, but it's a shame that Volkswagen has decided not to differentiate between the anterior ends of the Golf and Jetty, as they are used, that always made some pretty cool GTI with square headlights. Not that there's anything wrong with the outside of the TDI. The magic of the TDI is under the hood and at the pump, although it would be nice for VW to play up the color blue is a bit more, maybe on the lips of the rim or on the grille, just a bit more subtle to the differentiation of car the rest of the VW lineup. One thing is for sure, if you like the look of the Jetty, you would have no problems with the TDI.
The interior of the Jetty TDI is just what you expect from the German auto giant, the interior was comfortable, with a well-developed instrument cluster and center console, which not only looked good but was very user-friendly as well. The seats were nice, wrapped in black V-Tex leatherette, durable, attractive and very good imitation leather. The material is breathable than leather, but not as much as a cloth covered seat would, and not as grippe as comfortable or the woven material. But a few key pieces such as the multi-function steering wheel and handbrake lever are covered in the real thing.
