2013 Mini Clubvan compact van arrives this fall in the U.S.
The 121-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine from the Mini Cooper - and a choice of six-speed
manual or automatic transmission for the American market, will come in 2013 with a single motor Clubvan option. Mini says the combination provides top speed of 124 mph and 0-60 acceleration
in 9.8 seconds.
The new Club van, which debuted earlier
this year as concept at the Geneva Motor Show in 2012, is based on
the Clubman wagon and was inspired by
the original 1960 Morris Mini Van.
Mini describes the Club van as the world's first premium compact class trucks. It has two seats, with steel and aluminum partition behind the seats, and flat load floor that
extends all the way to the back. The
floor and walls are carpeted, with tie-downs to help cargo in place. The
cargo area can through the intermediate or rear doors open from the side Club Door. Blocked-out, are opaque rear side windows, body-colored
to thwart prying eyes.
Exterior color choices include Black Pepper, Ice Blue, British Racing Green Metallic and
Midnight Black metallic.
Small car-based
vans like
the Clubvan in Europe, where they are used primarily in congested cities, to supply goods to local retail shops popular.
